Hidden Camera is used in subway stations, at workplace, departmental stores and in every other public place that needs vigilance. These hidden cameras have advantage by preventing crime in these public places; however they are not legal in certain places. Hidden Camera is legal in certain public places where there is public movement but cannot be used in private places like dressing room, bathrooms, locker rooms etc. The benefits of such cameras include wireless capabilities, hidden ones and catch the criminals. Since they are hidden, people will not suspect it and when cameras are not in view then people will be prone to act, as they should not.  It allows watching your office, bank lockers and other facilities being utilized properly or not.
Since the hidden camera has wireless capability, it can be installed in any place and it would pick up the video and send it to the receiver.  The camera can be virtually placed in a clock, speaker, light bulb, air freshener etc. and can capture clear picture and transmit within a specific distance from the receiver. It will not have any visible wires that might lead a suspicion to the people.  These hidden cameras will blend with the object in which it is placed and makes it look as if that it is part of the object. Batteries power them and these batteries are turned on only when the camera has a movement. If they are stable and in observing in a single position then they do not take up the power from the batteries.
Generally these spy cameras are utilized for observing the movements inside the office, for kids in their room, or in departmental stores or any other public place. The legality of the Hidden Camera differs from state to state and is governed by laws of the land. In many states it is treated as invasion of privacy and leads to fine and could also be a felony offense. In certain states unauthorized surveillance is prohibited and is treated as illegal. Companies require legal permission to install such hidden cameras within the workplace to observe the activities of the employees. The controversy exits in usage of hidden camera in different states and one must know the law and act accordingly.
