Top 10 Latest Invention
01. World's First Solar-Powered Bus from Sanyo
The bus was named Solarve (Solar Vehicle) and it was built to mark the 100th anniversary of Ryobi, a transportation and logistics company based in Japan.
Solarve represents a city bus that has solar cell mounted on the roof. The cells generate electricity that is used for the interior LED lights.
According to Sanyo, the solar panels installed on top of the diesel-electric hybrid bus generate a total of 798 watts. It is worth mentioning that 420W are produced via crystalline silicon cells, while the rest is generated through amorphous silicon cells.
There are also storage batteries onboard. These batteries can power the bus for up to 9 hours when there's no sunlight. The solar-powered bus is expected to be launched on September 1. It will drive on the streets of Okayama City in Southern Japan.
02.Samsung Officially Confirms Its New Galaxy Tab

06.Machine that Turns Plastic Back Into Oil
Akinori Ito has invented a machine that can be of different sizes, and which can be used at home and industrial plants.
Ito's latest invention can turn a kilogram of plastic waste into a liter of oil. Though such process uses 1 kilowatt of electricity, the machine does not emit carbon dioxide.
It is worth mentioning that instead of using flames, the machine makes use of a temperature controlling electric heater. It can process almost anything, including polyethylene, polystyrene and polypropylene. However, it is unable to process PET bottles, reports Akihabara News.
The oil obtained during the process can be then used to create gasoline, Diesel and Kerosene.
07.Simply City - Electrical Vehicle that Boasts Low Operating Costs
Some of the materials used include hemp fiber and wood, which considerably reduce the weight of the vehicle.
Before creating the Simply City, engineers had the goal of making a vehicle that could not only reduce carbon emissions, but also have low operating costs.
08.Kia POP is the New Compact EV from the South-Korean Car-Maker
The company looks forward to present the prototype of the car at the upcoming 2010 Paris Motor Show.
It is worth mentioning that Kia POP is a commuter car that can carry two passengers.
One of the most impressive features of the vehicle is its design, mainly the symmetrical oval side windows that will surely catch the eye of the passers-by.
09. New Car Biofuel Made from Whisky By-Products
According to the researchers the biofuel could be used to power conventional vehicles without any particular adaptations. It is worth mentioning that the biofuel was created during a research project that lasted 2 years.
The two by-products, "pot ale", which is a liquid found in the copper stills, and "draff" (the spent grains) are used as the basis for creating butanol. The latter can be used as fuel, reports Physorg.
The lead researcher Martin Tangney says: "The new biofuel is made from biological material which has been already generated". He also mentioned that the biofuel will most like be used in combination with 10 percent petrol or diesel. "Five or 10 percent means less oil which would make a big, big difference," said Tangney.
The new biofuel has already been appreciated by a number of specialists, one of them being Richard Dixon, the Scotland director of environmental campaign group WWF. He said: "Whisky-powered cars could help Scotland avoid having to use those forest-trashing biofuels."
10.Fully-Integrated Solar-Powered Streetlights Developed by Enertia Engineering
It is worth mentioning that the fully-integrated streetlights make use of the latest LEDs, controls and solar power systems in order to work autonomously.
Dubbed the EnerSolar, a streetlight can work autonomously for three nights in a row, even when the solar panels did not managed to recharge the onboard batteries during the day.
The installation does not require external battery box or solar panel. This is because the light-head includes all that is needed. In addition, due to the fact that the EnerSolar is not connected to an electrical grid, it can be installed much safer than conventional street lights, informs EcoFriend
It would be interesting to note that the new solar-powered streetlights can easily be attached to virtually any standard lighting pole to provide instant lighting.
